BAR HARBOR — This spring, Witham Family Hotels included a community philanthropy project as part of orientation for seasonal staff at the company’s properties.
Each employee was given $10 dollars to give to one of the three local charitable organizations that were presented to them during the orientation session they attended.
The Witham Family Hotels Charitable Fund has made donations of more than $1,000 each to the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, H.O.M.E. and the Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County on behalf of the company’s employees. “This new added feature to our orientation program was received with a great deal of enthusiasm by our staff,” company representatives said in a statement. “Our employees were thrilled to be able to make a difference in our community.”
The Witham Family Hotels Charitable Fund, founded in 2017, has granted more than $100,000 to local service organizations. The fund is intended to carry on the local philanthropic legacy of the late David J. Witham.
